The type 3 nonuniform FFT and its applications

چکیده
The nonequispaced or nonuniform fast Fourier transform (NUFFT) arises in a variety of application areas, including imaging processing and the numerical solution of partial differential equations. In its most general form, it takes as input an irregular sampling of a function and seeks to compute its Fourier transform at a nonuniform sampling of frequency locations. This is sometimes referred to as the NUFFT of type 3. Like the fast Fourier transform, the amount of work required is of the order O(N log N), where N denotes the number of sampling points in both the physical and spectral domains. In this short note, we present the essential ideas underlying the algorithm in simple terms. We also illustrate its utility with application to problems in magnetic resonance imagin and heat flow. 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

A min-max approach to the multidimensional nonuniform FFT: application to tomographic image reconstruction
The FFT is used widely in signal processing for efficient computation of the Fourier transform (FT) over a set of uniformly spaced frequency locations. However, in many applications, one requires nonuniform sampling in the frequency domain, i.e., a nonuniform FT. Several papers have described fast approximations for the nonuniform FT based on interpolating an oversampled FFT. This paper present...
متن کاملNon-iterative Type 4 and 5 Nonuniform FFT Methods in the One-Dimensional Case
The so-called non-uniform FFT (NFFT) is a family of algorithms for efficiently computing the Fourier transform of finite-length signals, whenever the time or frequency grid is nonuniformly spaced. Following the usual classification, there exist five NFFT types. Types 1 and 2 make it possible to pass from the time to the frequency domain with nonuniform input and output grids respectively. Type ...

متن کاملNonuniform sampled scalar diffraction calculation using nonuniform fast Fourier transform.
Scalar diffraction calculations, such as the angular spectrum method (ASM) and Fresnel diffraction, are widely used in the research fields of optics, x rays, electron beams, and ultrasonics. It is possible to accelerate the calculation using fast Fourier transform (FFT); unfortunately, acceleration of the calculation of nonuniform sampled planes is limited due to the property of the FFT that im...
متن کاملFGG-NUFFT-Based Method for Near-Field 3-D Imaging Using Millimeter Waves
In this paper, to deal with the concealed target detection problem, an accurate and efficient algorithm for near-field millimeter wave three-dimensional (3-D) imaging is proposed that uses a two-dimensional (2-D) plane antenna array. First, a two-dimensional fast Fourier transform (FFT) is performed on the scattered data along the antenna array plane. Then, a phase shift is performed to compens...
